We were sent a review copy of Lands End by the editors themselves. Yes, they were honest. But they also know that we are a bit of an opinionated bunch, so they make sure we know what they think.
While it’s difficult for many gamers to read an actual review, it’s even harder for us to read an actual review. Many of the people who read our reviews have their own opinions about games, and I can’t imagine having to read an actual review, even if it was the same one we read years ago.
So we thought we’d give you a little taste of what we think about a game, and what they thought of it. It’s not our place to make any judgment on the game, but if you’re interested, we’ll give you the link so you can read our review.
The story of Arkane’s time-looping stealth ’em up is the most exciting part of the game, and it’s the first game in this series in over a decade. All of the characters are in a world of chaos, and it’s unclear what the game really is about.
Arkane’s approach to telling a story is a little different from other stealth games, so we can’t give it a full review right now.
The story is one of several in Arkanes “new” stealth series, though we can say its definitely the best yet. Its not a game you just play for the combat, but its a story about survival, and it’s the first of five in the series. Its also the first stealth game where the player controls an amnesiac.
The story of The Land’s End starts with a brief scene where an amnesiac, Colt Vahn, wakes up on a beach, and only in the last few minutes he does find out what the Island is. The game then moves forward, with a few small hints about the island and the Visionaries, and ends with an ending that’s very similar to the original.
In the story, we see a giant creature with a red cape. It has the same size as a human being and is much larger than the Amnesiac. Its also a real-life character, with a blue-skinned monster like the Amnesiac. The game ends as the player kills a person who’s holding a sword, but the sword is still alive.
In the end, it’s just a bit too reminiscent of the original for me. This game is about a guy with amnesia having to find a way to defeat a giant monster with a red cape, but also about a giant monster with a blue cape. The story of the original is more about the hero searching for a giant monster, and the sequel more about the monster searching for the hero. It’s a bit too much in the first game.
The second game seems to have had a lot more to do to make it the sequel it was. It’s just too similar to the beginning of the original game.
